I have previously baked brownies and they WERE perfect. But last night, when this batch of brownies came out, instead of the usual, it was quite dry and was more like crumbs. Whenever I touched it, it crumbled into tiny crumbs! What is going on here? Did miss any ingredient? Does it have anything to do with the baking powder or what? I also changed the brand of the chocolate.. does it have anything to do with that? Please help! I'm sitting here stuck with a bunch of brownie crumbs!

I am making a cheesecake with a brownie crust. It calls to use the box mix rather than making them from scratch. I want to do this because it is easier than doing them homemade, but what can I add to make them not taste so much like straight out of the box brownies? I already add cinnamon to them. Big Bear Ron Completely "G" rated made with no butter, oil, or shortening the only fat - what's in the eggs, nuts, and chocolate 1. In a metal bowl over steam, I melted 4 squares of UNsweetened bakers chocolate in 1 cup of coffee plus about 3 tsp. of instant coffee. 2. As soon as the chocolate was melted I added about 1 cup dark brown sugar and 3/4 cups of honey. Stirred that well to blend and cool off the chocolate just a bit. 3. To that I added about 1-1/2 cups of unsweetened apple sauce. 4. In a bowl I beat 3 eggs and about 1 tbsp. vanilla. I added that to the chocolate (after cooling it down some). 5. In a large mixing bowl I combined 2 cups of a/p flour, 3 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt. Stirred very well. 6. I poured the flour mix into the chocolate mix and stirred (not smooth) until all flour was moistened (a few specs of flour showing didn't hurt a thing.). 7. I added 1 can of whole salted macadamia nuts. 8. Poured all that into a 9 x 13 x 2 baking dish that I sprayed ONLY ON THE BOTTOM. I spread the mix evenly. 9. Baked about 25-30 minutes at 350. 10. Removed from oven. Did tooth pick test, and let cool down before cutting it.

Anytime you can go to someone's house and smell the chocolate from outside then you know there is something good waiting on the inside.  Who can turn down chocolate desserts, chocolate candy and anything dipped in chocolate?  Once when I was a teenager I had my first dipped strawberry.  It was a fancy store and they were expensive.  It was worth every penny.  Then I found some simple chocolate dessert recipes and they had the Chocolate Dipped Strawberries listed.  We paid way too much money for that strawberry.  When I followed the recipe and melted the chocolate, my mouth was watering.  I placed the strawberry in the chocolate and put it on the waxed paper to cool.  Once the dark chocolate had hardened I then dribbled white chocolate across it to make stripes.  It looked like I bought them from the store and yet they were so easy to make.  You can do the same with oranges and pineapples too.

Brownies are another favorite chocolate dessert that people cannot resist.  You can add nuts and marshmallows or peanut butter chips and frosting and they will be a hit.  Brownies are a simple dessert and yet a crowd pleaser.  Chocolate chip cookies are another favorite.  You cannot keep them in the house.  If you bring them to party people will be picking them up two and three at a time.  Especially if they are still slightly warm.  You know what I mean, when you break the cookie in half and the chocolate is gooey and slightly melted.

What about when you have a special occasion and you make brownies topping them with ice cream and hot chocolate fudge and whipped cream.  It makes you want to celebrate your birthday or get a new job so you can celebrate again.  You are able to make these chocolate desserts cheaper than if you bought them in the restaurant.  You also know that the ingredients are fresher.  You can have as much or as little as you want and you can have it when you want it.  Invite your friends over and have some chocolate fondue and fresh fruit.  Once again the recipes are easy to find, easy to make and you can become one of the best cooks in the neighborhood with the dish for everything.  The best part is you do not always have to spend a lot of money making the dishes taste great.  So, do what you like to do and that is to cook and when you cook make it taste great.  Then enjoy your dish with your friends.

Nigella Lawson - Flourless Chocolate Brownies; Monday, 12 Nov 2007 INGREDIENTS For the brownie: 225g dark chocolate, 70% cocoa solids 225g butter 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 200g caster sugar 3 eggs, beaten 150g ground almonds 100g chopped walnuts For the sauce: 75g dark chocolate, 70% cocoa solids 125ml double cream 2 x 15ml tablespoons Camp coffee or 2 teaspoons instant espresso powder dissolved in 2 tablespoons water 1 x 15ml tablespoon golden syrup Serving Size : Makes 16 squares METHOD 1.For the brownie: 2.Preheat the oven to 170°C/gas mark 3. Melt the chocolate and butter gently over a low heat in a heavy-based saucepan. 3.Take the pan off the heat, mix in the vanilla and sugar, and let it cool a little. 4.Beat the eggs into the pan along with the ground almonds and chopped walnuts. Turn into a 24cm square baking tin or, most sensibly, use a foil one. 5.Bake in the oven for 2530 minutes, by which time the top will have set but the mixture will still be gooey. Once cooler, cut carefully, four down, four across, into 16 squidgybellied squares. 6.For the sauce: 7.Break up the chocolate and put into a heavy-based saucepan. 8.Add the remaining ingredients, then place the pan over a gentle heat and let everything melt together. 9.Once everything has melted, stir well, take off the heat and pour into a jug to serve.
