Can I Make Brownies With a Chocolate Cake Mix?

by Brownie on March 22, 2011

I really want to make brownies but all I have in the house is a chocolate cake mix (and the ingredients needed to make it). Does anybody know how I could adjust the ingredients to make brownies instead of a cake? Is it even possible?

CAKE MIX BROWNIES

1 box chocolate or lemon cake mix
1 stick butter, melted
2 eggs
1/2 box 10X confectioners’ sugar
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese

Mix together cake mix, melted butter and 1 egg. Press into greased sheet cake pan.
Mix together 1/2 box sugar, 1 egg and cream cheese. Spread on top of cake mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for about 25 minutes. Cool in pan and cut into squares.

BROWNIES FROM A CAKE MIX

1 pkg. devils food cake mix
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. nuts

Stir this all up – it will be very thick and press the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

There is 1/3 cup of water and 1/3 cup of oil, and 1 egg in brownies. Just put those in the cake mix. If you want, you can add another egg if you want. If you feel that the mix is to dry or too thick, gradually add more water and a tad more oil. Good luck and I was just guessing!

Check the package of cake mix. Sometimes they have info on how to make your cake mix into different things, including brownies. Additionally, I would check out the website for the company that your cake mix is made by (www.bettycrocker.com or http://www.pilsbury.com, etc). They usually have information on how to use your cake mix in different ways.

Good luck and enjoy!

Add a couple extra eggs, a little bit less water, and melt some chocolate or fudge to drizzle on top…

Yummy, when they’re ready, send them to me!!!
